# BSON Type

The BSON type is a binary encoded serialization format that is used to represent simple and complex data structures, for example, documents in MongoDB® databases. SingleStore supports all valid BSON types. For more information, refer to [BSON Specification](https://bsonspec.org/spec.html).

For information on data type mapping between SingleStore and its corresponding BSON type, refer to [BSON Data Type Mapping](https://docs.singlestore.com/cloud/reference/singlestore-kai/data-type-mapping.md).
