# LOG2

The `LOG2()` function returns the logarithm of the given argument to base `2`.

## Syntax

```sql
LOG2 ( number )

```

## Arguments

* `number`: Number to take the logarithm of.

> **📝 Note**: `LOG2(n)` is equivalent to `LOG(n) / LOG(2)`.

## Return Type

Float or double. If number is less than or equal to 0, or if base is non-positive or 1, returns `NULL`.

## Examples

```sql
SELECT LOG2(16);

```

```output

+----------+
| LOG2(16) |
+----------+
|        4 |
+----------+
