# remove-leaf

## Description

Removes a leaf node from the cluster without deleting its data.

This command runs the [REMOVE LEAF](https://docs.singlestore.com/db/v9.1/reference/sql-reference/cluster-management-commands/remove-leaf.md) command on the Master Aggregator, which rebalances the leaf node’s partitions into the remaining cluster, and transitions the leaf node to the `unknown` state.

A leaf node that has been removed can be added back to the cluster, without any loss of data, by using the [sdb-admin add-leaf](https://docs.singlestore.com/db/v9.1/reference/singlestore-tools-reference/sdb-admin-commands/add-leaf.md) command.

To completely remove a leaf node and its data, refer to the [sdb-admin delete-node](https://docs.singlestore.com/db/v9.1/reference/singlestore-tools-reference/sdb-admin-commands/delete-node.md) command.
