# LOG2

Returns the logarithm of the given argument to base 2.

## Syntax

```sql
LOG2 ( number )

```

## Arguments

* number: the number to take the logarithm of.

> **📝 Note**: LOG2(n) is equivalent to LOG(n) / LOG(2).

## Return Type

Float or double. If number is less than or equal to 0, or if base is non-positive or 1, returns NULL.

## Examples

```sql
SELECT LOG2(16);

```

```output

+----------+
| LOG2(16) |
+----------+
|        4 |
+----------+
