Important

The SingleStore 9.1 release candidate (RC) is available now. It will be promoted to general availability (GA) soon and at that time it will be renamed to SingleStore 10.

In the interim, SingleStore 9.1 RC can be used to preview, evaluate, and provide feedback on the new and upcoming features in SingleStore 10, while SingleStore 9.0 is recommended for production workloads.

Specifying the TLS Version

Use the tls_version global variable to specify the TLS versions allowed by the server. This variable can only be set at startup.

Versions below TLS1.2 are not supported from release 10.0.0 onwards. (i.e., 10.0.0+ only supports TLSv1.2 and TLSv1.3).

To see the current TLS version, run the following command.

SELECT @@tls_version;
+-----------------------+
| @@tls_version |
+-----------------------+
| TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2 |
+-----------------------+

Configuring TLS 1.3

For engine version 10.0.0 and later, configure tls_version to include TLS 1.3. For example, the following command enables TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 on all nodes:

sdb-admin update-config --key tls_version --value "TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3" --all

The value takes effect after the nodes are restarted. Restart the nodes using the standard cluster restart procedure.

To verify the configured value, run:

SELECT @@tls_version;

***

TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3

The result should include TLSv1.3.

The client and server negotiate the highest TLS version supported by both sides. Ensure that the SQL client and its underlying TLS library support TLSv1.3 before enabling it.

Toolbox

The following command updates the TLS version to TLSv1.2 or TLSv1.3 on all nodes in the cluster.

sdb-admin update-config --key tls_version --value TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 --all
Toolbox is about to run 'memsqlctl update-config --key tls_version --value TLSv1.2' on the following nodes:
    - On host 127.0.0.1:

Verification instructions

Note: You must install cosign to verify the authenticity of the SingleStore file.

Use the following steps to verify the authenticity of singlestoredb-server, singlestoredb-toolbox, singlestoredb-studio, and singlestore-client SingleStore files that have been downloaded.

You may perform the following steps on any computer that can run cosign, such as the main deployment host of the cluster.

  1. (Optional) Run the following command to view the associated signature files.

    curl undefined
  2. Download the signature file from the SingleStore release server.

    • Option 1: Click the Download Signature button next to the SingleStore file.

    • Option 2: Copy and paste the following URL into the address bar of your browser and save the signature file.

    • Option 3: Run the following command to download the signature file.

      curl -O undefined
  3. After the signature file has been downloaded, run the following command to verify the authenticity of the SingleStore file.

    echo -n undefined |
    cosign verify-blob --certificate-oidc-issuer https://oidc.eks.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/id/CCDCDBA1379A5596AB5B2E46DCA385BC \
    --certificate-identity https://kubernetes.io/namespaces/freya-production/serviceaccounts/job-worker \
    --bundle undefined \
    --new-bundle-format -
    Verified OK
