Important

The SingleStore 9.1 release candidate (RC) is available now. It will be promoted to general availability (GA) soon and at that time it will be renamed to SingleStore 10.

In the interim, SingleStore 9.1 RC can be used to preview, evaluate, and provide feedback on the new and upcoming features in SingleStore 10, while SingleStore 9.0 is recommended for production workloads.

Configure Host Aliases and Pod DNS

Configure hostAliases and dnsConfig in the Master Aggregator (MA), child aggregator, and leaf node specifications of the sdb-cluster.yaml file. Both fields are optional.

Use these fields to configure static hostname mappings or additional DNS settings for the Kubernetes pods that run the SingleStore engine.

Configure Host Aliases

The hostAliases field adds static hostname mappings to /etc/hosts in the Kubernetes pod that runs the corresponding SingleStore engine node. Each entry specifies an IP address and one or more hostnames.

spec:
masterAggregatorSpec:
hostAliases:
- ip: 10.1.2.3
hostnames:
- broker-1.internal
- broker-2.internal

Configure Pod DNS

The dnsConfig field configures DNS settings for the Kubernetes pods that run the corresponding type of SingleStore engine node. Supported subfields are nameservers, searches, and options.

spec:
leafSpec:
dnsConfig:
nameservers:
- 1.1.1.1
searches:
- corp.example
options:
- name: ndots
value: "2"

For Kubernetes pods running SingleStore engine nodes, the Operator sets the DNS policy to ClusterFirst. You cannot override dnsPolicy in the MemsqlCluster custom resource. The Operator applies only the settings specified in dnsConfig; if you omit dnsConfig, it leaves the pod’s DNS configuration unchanged.

Configure Fields for Each Node Type

Configure hostAliases and dnsConfig under the corresponding node specification: masterAggregatorSpec, childAggregatorSpec, or leafSpec. Refer to Pod Scheduling for more information about scheduling attributes. For example:

apiVersion: memsql.com/v1alpha1
kind: MemsqlCluster
metadata:
name: sdb-cluster
spec:
masterAggregatorSpec:
hostAliases:
- ip: 10.1.2.3
hostnames:
- broker-1.internal
childAggregatorSpec:
dnsConfig:
searches:
- aggregator.corp.example
leafSpec:
hostAliases:
- ip: 10.1.2.4
hostnames:
- broker-2.internal
dnsConfig:
searches:
- leaf.corp.example

Apply the updated object definition file:

kubectl apply -f sdb-cluster.yaml

Verification instructions

Note: You must install cosign to verify the authenticity of the SingleStore file.

Use the following steps to verify the authenticity of singlestoredb-server, singlestoredb-toolbox, singlestoredb-studio, and singlestore-client SingleStore files that have been downloaded.

You may perform the following steps on any computer that can run cosign, such as the main deployment host of the cluster.

  1. (Optional) Run the following command to view the associated signature files.

    curl undefined
  2. Download the signature file from the SingleStore release server.

    • Option 1: Click the Download Signature button next to the SingleStore file.

    • Option 2: Copy and paste the following URL into the address bar of your browser and save the signature file.

    • Option 3: Run the following command to download the signature file.

      curl -O undefined
  3. After the signature file has been downloaded, run the following command to verify the authenticity of the SingleStore file.

    echo -n undefined |
    cosign verify-blob --certificate-oidc-issuer https://oidc.eks.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/id/CCDCDBA1379A5596AB5B2E46DCA385BC \
    --certificate-identity https://kubernetes.io/namespaces/freya-production/serviceaccounts/job-worker \
    --bundle undefined \
    --new-bundle-format -
    Verified OK
